Ford is planning to introduce a lot of new EVs in the coming years and wanted to start with a bang. And they sure did with the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Not just because of the fact that it’s all-electric, but more so because they decided to throw in the Mustang nameplate in the mix.

You can get your Ford Mustang Mach-E in four trims levels which of course gives you different levels of range and performance. The base has a decent 230 miles of range with the extended range giving you 300 miles of range. Pretty typical numbers for modern EVs.

The GT is naturally the more performance oriented variant, with an estimated range of 250 miles but not only that, it has different design features and styling which in my opinion completely transforms the look of the Mach-E. More on this in a minute.

On the inside of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E you’ll find plenty of storage options and a bunch of available options, but standard features are generous.

These include FordPass Connect (allows your phone to operate as a key), you also get a 15.5-inch infotainment screen as standard along with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

The 2021 Tesla Model Y looks like a smaller Model X with seating for up to 7-passenger seating and a choice of 2 powertrains however it started out with 3.

Tesla initially sold an entry level Model Y called the standard-range which offered 244 miles of range. You might still be able to find one or two for sale but the Standard Range Model Y is officially discontinued.

So the two power options left are the Long Range with an impressive 326 miles of range and the Performance with 303 miles.

The 2021 Model Y is quick regardless of which powertrain you choose to go with. The Long Range does 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds and the Performance completes the same sprint in 3.5s.

The steering wheel feels tight and small and the suspension is on the sportier, stiffer side making the Model Y crossover feel more like a legit sportscar than a small SUV. Of courseTesla also offers a semi-autonomous mode with adaptive cruise control and steering assistance if you’re in the mood for a more relaxing drive.

As with the Tesla Model 3, the inside is extremely clean with nothing but a steering wheel and a 15-inch touchscreen. Some love it, some dislike it.

What I can tell you from having owned a Tesla Model 3 is that at first I wasn’t so sure about the extreme lack of literally any buttons or knobs, but I came to appreciate it after a while. It’s visually less cluttered and there’s less for your mind to pay attention to.

Instead, I would focus on enjoying the driving experience.

One thing I did miss was Apple CarPlay which just like Android Auto, isn’t available in the Tesla Model Y.
