A Field Artillery Surveyor/Meteorological Crewmember is a member of the Army's field artillery team. Artillery systems are weapons that fire large ammunition or missiles to support infantry and tank units in combat. The Field Artillery Surveyor/Meteorological Crewmember is responsible for monitoring weather conditions and patterns so artillery units can fire and launch missiles accurately, and for making sure the artillery weapons are emplaced with exact precision so the weapon systems can deliver accurate and lethal firepower.

Some of your duties as a Field Artillery Surveyor/Meteorological Crewmember may include:

-Operate meteorological equipment
-Monitor flight progress and system status during flight
-Compute total and free balloon lift for helium and hydrogen
-Record field data, prepares schematic sketches and marks survey stations.
-Perform astronomic observations
-Prepare meteorological balloons for launching
-Input upper air information into computer assisted artillery meteorology models to develop meteorology data.
-Perform preventive maintenance checks and services on vehicles, radios, weapons and all survey equipment
-Assemble and operate computer and peripheral equipment.
-Perform operator maintenance on electronic and manual meteorology and survey equipment
