The Hyundai Elantra compact sedan has been updated for 2020 with a look that reminds us of an older Ford Focus. The 2020 Hyundai Elantra 5-passenger sedan has been updated with new headlamps, available LED headlamps, bumper, fog-lights and rear bumper and tail lamps. The Hyundai Elantra is a cousin car to the Kia Forte sedan. Powering the 2020 Hyundai Elantra is an Atkinson Cycle 2,0L 4-cylinder with 148hp. The big mechanical change for 2020 includes what Hyundai calls an iCVT, or intelligent continuously variable transmission. This new transmission is like other CVT's but differs from allotters in this class because it uses a chain system instead of a belt for more responsive starts and the ability to mimic conventional gear changes. The upside to adding a CVT is improved fuel economy. In Canada, the Hyundai Elantra sedan is sold with a base 6-speed manual transmission but all other trims get the new CVT. On the base model CVT the buyer needs to spend $1500 more to get the advanced forward collision safety system. This feature is included on the top trims as standard equipment. The interior of the Hyundai Elantra commuter car is a comfortable cabin with standard heated front seats, available heated steering wheel and heated rear seats, along with optional leather seats. The base display audio is a 5-inch unit with Bluetooth connectivity. The other display audio systems are the 7-inch or 8-inch units with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the top unit even has onboard navigation. The Elantra is also available with a wireless charging pad. The Elantra sedan is good basic transportation but buyers who prefer a more engaging drive can opt for the Elantra GT or GT N-Line for an available turbocharged engine and independent rear suspension. As it stands, this is a comfortable and efficient everyday car.
