In this week's Grand Adventure we're leaving behind Nevada's Carson Valley and climbing into the Sierra Nevada Mountains just to the south of Lake Tahoe, where we've found our favorite boondocking site of the season thus far at Border Ruffian Flat, only a half hour's drive south of Lake Tahoe and outside the "blue line," the perimeter drawn around Lake Tahoe within which dispersed camping in the National Forest is prohibited.

We explore not only our camping area and the area surrounding nearby Carson Pass, but also the gorgeous deep blue and turquoise waters of Lake Tahoe, both from shore and from our kayak launched at Sand Harbor State Park.

And much to our surprise, we rescue not one, but two motorists stranded in the forest surrounding our camp.
