This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas mid-size, 3-row SUV. The Volkswagen Atlas is a comfortable and spacious family-hauler! The VW Atlas is one of the largest vehicles in its class with plenty of front and second row legroom but where it shines is in third row space offering best in class legroom at almost 34 inches. Overall cargo space at 96.8 cubic feet beats out its main competitors, the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade, only the Chevrolet Traverse offers a little bit more.
There are two engine options for the Volkswagen Atlas, a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. A 3.6L V6 with 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. Standard AWD in Canada, FWD and AWD options available in the US. The VW Atlas has a bold exterior style with standard LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, chrome exterior trim, black roof rails, available silver and standard 18” wheels, available 20” and 21” wheels. You can up the sportiness of this SUV with the R-Line package with black exterior accents, black wheels, brushed stainless steel pedals and an R-Line leather wrapped heated steering wheel. Standard features on the Volkswagen Atlas include, a 6.5” touchscreen, available 8”, an 8” digital driver display, available 10.25”, wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto, available wireless, cloth upholstery, available leather and heated front seats. If you are looking for a little more luxury, available features include, ventilated front seats, heat rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, 11-speaker Fender Audio system, a power passenger seat, driver seat memory, a 360 camera and navigation. Captain’s Chairs are available for $700 CAD/$695 USD on select trims.
