Mistreatment within the Black community can be traced back all the way to the beginning of history. Black Americans have been heavily overlooked in the medical field. How can we minimize this issue and move towards a future built on hope and equality so that Black Americans feel comfortable within the medical community? Kendal Beasley is an African American student passionate about Social Justice and changing the norm of society. Currently she is the Co-president of the Black Student Union Club. She is an advocate who hopes that her talk will educate her audience and bring forth change for her own community. In the future, she hopes to major in criminal justice and use her voice as a vessel for those who do not have the power to do so. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
