Recent events in Chicago have exposed the city’s legendary arts and cultural institutions, forcing them to confront hard to swallow truths. The COVID-19 crisis has forced organizations to confront the debilitating reality of empty galleries and dark stages. At the same time, arts organizations are on the precipice of a watershed moment as calls for racial equity and representation continue to rise.

This program will unite leaders at the forefront of Chicago’s arts and culture scene to explore how recent events have completely changed the game when it comes to producing, distributing, and experiencing art and culture in the Windy City. Bringing together trailblazers from various creative institutions in Chicago—from Steppenwolf to the Joffrey Ballet to the National Museum of Mexican Art—we’ll examine the new normal for individuals and performers in the city and how it will affect the industry for years to come.
