I would first like to thank the Haisla for settling in such a beautiful valley and welcoming me in to enjoy the Kitimaat area.
Secondly i would like to thank Sunny Stewart-Pollard and the 'Spirit of the Kitlope' for allowing me to use one of their songs in the video.
Song: The Constitution

This hike located in the Kitimaat Village takes you to a spiritual ancient Haisla burial ground. Tombstones scattered throughout the forest dating back to the turn of the century. It was/is a belief that all the dead are reincarnated sooner than later. That is a peaceful thought as many of the graves belonged to children.
The trail starts at the marina and heads south down the coast.
You will pass a beautiful totem pole and then about 10 minutes later you will come upon the burial ground. Take a moment to pay some respect when passing through this area.
I read a story stating that the Haisla believe/believed that if a person is drowning, all the animals in the area rush to the drowning persons side. The first animal that reaches the drowning person is what the dying person will be reincarnated as. That is a very cool thought.
