Well well well, it’s here: the Poco M3 Pro 5G. With a Mediatek Dimensity 700 processor, 5G connectivity, 90Hz display, AND the addition of NFC, it’s an upgrade of the POCO M3. -But is it enough to call it PRO? -Find the M3Pro here on AliExpress: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_pRt... and use Coupon M3PRO for an additional 10$ off.

The Poco M3 PRO 5G does have some upgrades, as the Mediatek Dimensity 700 is slightly more powerful than the Snapdragon found in its predecessor AND it gives the M3 PRO 5G connectivity. The 90 Hz refresh rate does give the display a better feel, and a feature that a lot of people found lacking is finally here as well: NFC. It’s also seen an increase of RAM in the 128GB storage models as it now has 6GB instead of 4GB.

But there’s also a few big BUT’S… The battery size went down, from 6000mAh to 5000mAh. There is no dual-speaker setup on the PRO and the camera has remained pretty much the same as on the M3. So in terms of upgrade, it’s really not all that much and some features have actually seen some sort of a downgrade when comparing it with its predecessor.

In terms of performance it did feel a little bit better than the M3 (as in my review the actual performance was really not great: YouTube LINK) but it’s still not giving me a great performance. The UI felt like it had some sort of drag, or delay, when scrolling and it wasn’t 100% smooth. Surely it was better then my experience with the M3, but it was far from great.

Also the camera has not seem much of an improvement. At night both the photos and the video have given me some pretty bad results. Although some shots came out slightly better than I had on the M3, the difference isn’t even noteworthy. The fact that the PRO still only has 1080P video is just a bit of a bummer. -I found the selfie camera to perform the same as well, and… well… that wasn’t all that impressive either.

Sure, price plays a big part in this line of phones and I do consider the price when giving my verdict. BUT the fact that some of the UI interactions just felt a bit sluggish, the display felt very dimmed (especially when being outside in direct sunlight) and the camera hasn’t seen much of an improvement (if any) makes me really wonder if this is the phone for you.

Sure, if you don’t need a high resolution camera, and you don’t need much performance as you might just use it for same whatsapp, some email and perhaps just some Facebook scrolling. Sure, this might be just the perfect phone that fits in your budget.

But if you demand a little bit more from your phone, whether that is a slightly better camera or a little bit better processing experience, you might perhaps be better off looking at something in a slightly higher price category and save up a few months more. It’ll be worth it!
