What are some of the ways we can increase our taqwa?
So, these are some practical things that a person can do.
One is to get to know Allah azawajal.

Really, just to know who is the lord that we worship?

When you know Allah azawajal is Al-Rahman Al-Raheem, then you have hope in Allah azawaja. It induces love of Allah azawajal to know that Allah azawajal is overlooking you and taking care of you, and that Allah azawajal is so merciful to you.

When you know that Allah azawajal is Al-Razaq that Allah azawajalis the one who provides then that induces hope.

Everything that you learn about Allah azawajal it the sense that it creates a sense of relationship. It creates and induces an emotion with regards of Allah azawajal when you know that Allah azawajal is Al-Qawi, Al-Aziz and is the powerful.

Allah azawajal is the mighty and that you recognize that it humbles you, you know in your place. Allah azawajal is the one.
When Allah azawajal, you know he is Al-Sami, Al-Basir.

So you know that Allah azawajalis present with you wherever you are and that he hears you and he sees you and your circumstances.

That should invoke, and that should create shininess for the slave and that they’re aware of the presence of Allahazawajal of them in all their circumstance, and in everything that you do.

This taqwa comes from knowing more of Allah azawajal. That you recognize because in reality none of us who sin, except in that moment of sin we’ve either forgotten about Allah azawajal, or that we didn’t give Allah azawajal his due right.

We didn’t hold Allah azawajal as he should be.

We didn’t estimate himazawajalas yet as he deserves to be seen in our hearts and so knowing Allah azawajal is the first one.

The second one is, to actually seek knowledge to know what a person should fear, what a person should avoid and so if you don’t know that something is obligatory on me with obviously you’re not gonna do it, and if you do not know that something is haram then obviously you may fall into it.

So if you don’t know the transaction is riba then you may fall that a person doesn’t know some of the details in the sharia, then they may fall into something that’s harm, then they may fallinto something that is haram, and they may be absent in something that is obligatory.

So, learning about what a person should avoid, and learning about how they should have taqwa of Allah azawajal by learnig about the religion that Allah has obligated on his slaves.

***
The third is, to remember akhira. And akhira is very important, because that is what you puts everything in perspective.

Remembering akhira is a very important aspect of increasing your taqwa.

When you read about the grave, and you read about the punishment of the hellfire and you read about all these things it induces fear.

The fourth is to follow your sins with good deeds.

The prophet salalahualayhiwasalam toldMu’ad “Itagi Allah haytah man kunt. Waatbi’a’ saytihasan” Fear Allah where ever you are. And follow sins with good deeds.

Whenever you do a sin, follow it up with good deed.

Don’t let one sin lead to another. Interrupt it with a good deed.

Interrupt it with a big good deed.

Right, sosomething that is bigger than the sin. So, that you get into the habit of that.

So, shaythanwill recognize that every time he gets you to commit a sin, it doesn’t drag you out.

In fact, you end up doing a bigger good deed and so he will stop invoking in your heart and will stop inciting in your heart.

For you to do sins because he recognizes that that doesn’t destroy you, in fact that destroys him.

Right?

That destroys his mission, because you always follow a sin with deed.

And the last one is the most important one which is, to invoke Allah azawajal. To ask Allah, and the prophet salalahialayhiwasalam so many supplications he use to make.

But of them is, “Allahumainiasalukahuda, watuqa, walafaf, walqina”
“Oh Allah I ask you for Huda(guidance),and tuqa (taqwa), and afaf (chastity) and qina (self-sufficiency or richness)”

So, hese are supplications in which we should make. “Allahuma in asaluka min khashyatikkamatahulbaniwabaynima’siyatak.”

“Oh Allah I ask from your khashya (your fear), what will be a barrier between me and sinning against you.”

There are lost of supplications, check them out. You’ll find them online in thesunnnah of the prophet slalahualayhiwaslam.

So that we memorize them, and we ask Allah azawajal(even if you don’t memorize them) that you make it a habit for yourself to ask Allah azawajal to grant you taqwa.

To grant you increased awerness of Allah azawajal. Increase conscious, reverence of Allah azawajal, fear of Allah azawajal, and that we be of the muttaqeen. Allahuma Ameen.
