How do we best craft communities that accompany students in their learning journey while keeping our Jesuit values? How do we do this in a constantly changing landscape?

The future is changing in front of us. The evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to transform education, influencing the role of educators in ways big and small. Jesuit education has long been at the frontier of change, continually seeking to read the signs of the times in the ever-evolving world around us.

Many educators feel like they are trying to keep up with their students in using AI. They wrestle with the potential inherent in new technology, balancing it with a fear of the unknown in their classrooms: Does the virtual world lead to student isolation? Are we shortcutting learning for our students? Who needs teachers when we have AI?

Bringing together Ignatian educators to reflect on their experience of how AI shapes connection, integrity and purpose in 2024, this Symposium aims to spark a conversation on the realities educators are facing right now, as we imagine together the future of teaching and learning in Jesuit schools.
