We all knew Ferrari was working on a V6 hybrid to take on the new McLaren Artura, but we didn’t realise it would be more powerful than the 812 Competizione.

Then again, the 296 GTB isn't exactly the car we were expecting. We all presumed Ferrari was on the brink of launching an entry-level car to sit below the F8 Tributo. But the V6 hybrid in the 296 GTB produces 818bhp and can from from 0-124mph in just 7.3 seconds. These are hypercar numbers from a car expected to cost around £230,000. That puts it seriously close to the F8 Tributo, though Ferrari plans to sell its V8 model alongside the new V6. So is the new 'baby' Ferrari the one to go for?
