“The Entertainer” – From Scott Joplin Songbook - Official Video - “Sweet Piano Vibes From The South”

"The Entertainer" is a classic piano rag written by Scott Joplin in 1902. It was used as the theme music for the 1973 Oscar-winning film "The Sting", starring Paul Newman & Robert Redford.

Written & Directed by Diane Roblin
Piano : Ania Safa

Born in 1868 in a musical family of railway laborers in Texarkana, Arkansas, Scott Joplin was an American composer & pianist who wrote 40 original ragtime piano pieces. Scott Joplin considered ragtime to be a form of classical music.
The musical atmosphere present in the South, work songs, gospel hymns, spirituals and the combination of the influences of classical music have contributed significantly to the invention of a new style that blended African-American musical styles with European forms and melodies. Scott Joplin became dubbed the "King of Ragtime".
