Situated a few kilometers away from the famous Pang Ung Lake, Pang Tong Palace is a royal project, designed to promote agriculture and trade the opium crops for alternative agriculture. The site covers a large piece of land, which can be explored by car or motorcycle. It features beautiful gardens, coffee and fruit plantations of all sorts, sheep, horses, and other animals. There is also a little zoo there, with wild cats, peacocks, and birds such as hornbill. I was 3 times here and there were hardly any visitors. Take the steep road just off the main route 4001 and drive up. Free entry for all.
