Hyundai released details this week about its new, improved, second generation IONIQ Electric. The 2nd Gen IONIQ has its battery capacity upped from 28kWh to 38.3kWh usable energy. The front wheel drive electric motor power has increased from 88kW to 113kW.

Lots of little features have been added over our 2016 model, 1st generation IONIQ Electric here in the UK. I try to review as many as I could spot for now!

The new IONIQ exterior most noticeably has a new grille design - as polarising as the old, but in different ways. There are new aero alloy wheels, revised LED lights and daylight running lights.

There is a restyled sat nav / GPS, new mood lighting, new instrument cluster and a few small tweaks in the new IONIQ's interior.

Overall the 2nd Gen IONIQ seems a great improvement. But will its new 39kWh battery pack - seemingly from the lower end KONA Electric range - have slower charging issues? Will it end up the Achilles heel of this revision to the EV's world 'efficiency king'?

For ease of reference also here's the EV Puzzle video about the 39kWh KONA Electric's charging issues:
