GOD IS YOUR FRIEND
by Dr Emmet Fox

God is your best friend. God is always present, and you can turn to God for help, for guidance. God never fails you.

Of course, it is foolish to think that God is just a very big man, a magnified addition of ourselves; but when people escape from this error they sometimes make the opposite mistake of thinking that God is only an impersonal force like electricity or gravity. This is the more dangerous mistake of the two, because it leaves people with no one to depend on but themselves, and that is the most tragic of all conditions. In such a case, people think, "I can overcome this difficulty if I get my thoughts right, but I have to do this alone, by my own power, and I may not be able to do it." They forget that God always helps.

Think of God as a loving Father, always ready to heal and comfort. Remember that God knows you and loves you and cares for you. Remember that God is, and has infinite intelligence; that God has all power, and is all power, and His nature is love. Turn to God today in exactly the same way and in the same spirit as you would have done when you were five or six years of age, but with the larger understanding you have since received.

The Christ teaching comes not to destroy but to fulfill.
