I've been managing people for the best part of 20 years. In that time I've led large and small teams, had some great successes and also some not so great experiences.

As I've grown as a manager and leader I've found it a very useful exercise to always let my team know what I expect from them and indeed the type of characteristics that I'm expecting them to exhibit every day they work in my team.

And pleasing your boss is a great way to get promoted. It obviously helps you get promoted and move on in your career.

And I'm pretty sure a lot of these characteristics are desired by many senior leaders. Certainly anyone that nails these behaviours is someone that would slot into the majority of high performing teams and hit the ground running.
