In this video, I continue working on my 3d puzzle game. During the summer months, I had a lot of time to focus on this project and I am more than pleased with how it turned out.

Using the Unity 3D game engine, I started over with my 3D puzzle game. It was a long time since I last did game dev with the project and I thought it would be a good idea to restart the indie game to improve it.

We start off by getting player input and movement in the unity game engine and then work on getting the core game mechanic back in. After doing some game programming we have everything back to the way it was. I also used blender to create the model and exported it to unity. Later it would go into substance painter.

I then wanted to improve the visuals for the game, so I made a modular environment kit. A modular interior level design kit in game dev (indie game dev too) is a collection of pieces that the level designer, level design team, or indie game dev can use to create video game levels. The modular environment kit pieces snap together to create levels for video games in lots of different ways.

To make a piece for the interior level design modular environment kit, I first modeled a piece from the modular environment kit and then duplicated it to give it a bevel. I then UV unwrap the low poly modular environment piece. All this is done in blender, the free 3d modeling software. Then I export the piece to adobe substance painter and use some smart materials to provide a nice base for the texture. From there I exported the textures and the models into unity and set them up as prefabs.

After this, I made the player for my 3d puzzle game. I did some sculpting in blender and then texturing in substance painter. I then modified a dissolve shader I saw in a Brackeys tutorial to make the teleporting have a cool effect.

After that I made some lights in unity. I had to use baked lighting in unity 3d to get the effect I wanted with the light.
