We examine the geopolitical effects of its expansion in the Global South by looking at three case studies in Cambodia, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia. The cities Sihanoukville, Forest City, and Port City Colombo all reflect how China seeks more influence here, but also highlight the environmental and socio-cultural consequences that they produce.
