Andre Campra was one of the leading French composers of the Baroque era.
He composed multiple operas (lyric tragedies), of which Idomenee is one. The Rigaudon comes from this opera, and has become a popular piece for brass ensembles and organists, with famous performers such as Diane Bish performing the work many times.
I thought this Rigaudon would be a fine way to showcase the trumpet stop of Ron Sharp's neoclassical organ at Wollongong Town Hall, whilst having a bit of fun.
