Sony is reportedly working on a new console controller that takes its haptics technology to the next level.

It features a "weighted component" which could "shift the centre of the mass of the controller".

This will effectively mean that the entire controller could respond to movements in a game by becoming heavier on one side than the other.

Yesterday, a bunch of fresh previews for the action RPG dropped — and just about every single one of them gushed over how good the game is shaping up to be. Some even went as far to call it a guaranteed Game of the Year contender.

However, for many, there's a clear sticking point hiding amid all the praise — and that's the uncapped frame rate. As outlined in the original article below, IGN went ahead and actually analysed the frame rate during their demo — and it averaged at around 31 frames-per-second. Which, needless to say, isn't great for a current-gen action game.

There are other previews out there — multiple, in fact — that clearly highlight a much smoother frame rate. Some, like Twitch streamer Prod, state that the preview build was running at around 60fps, but with some dips during busy combat scenarios. RPGFan also say that the game "ran smoothly" during their time with it.

Pulse Elite is Just “Average”

At $150, the Pulse Elite is a mid-tier set of headphones (with a microphone) that reminds me of the pair I got with my first paycheck at my first job out of college.

If speaking to your teammates and stanning PlayStation over other consoles is your top priority, then getting this headset would make more sense.

And when gaming is already a cacophony of sound, it can get pretty intense. Like when I’m throwing grenades in Rebirth, the explosions just blast through the ears, which really take a beating.

In practice, I found this not to be of much use while gaming, as it increased the mental load of trying to figure out what was going on.

IGN was WAY more positive

You can also triple-tap the PlayStation Link button to bring up the audio menu when it is connected to a PlayStation 5. You can also access this menu by navigating the main menu bar that comes up when you tap the PS button, but the triple tap is faster.

I mentioned the good passive noise isolation and I want to elaborate. These don’t have active noise cancelation, which is fine because the isolation is so good. They are also very comfortable, and the material Sony chose for the ear cups is soft, plush, and doesn’t get too hot even after wearing them for four or five straight hours.

The one thing to note is that you aren’t going to get the typical rumble or bump that comes with bass-heavy headphones. Instead, the Pulse Elites feature a more tightly controlled bass that sounds more “natural” and won’t come anywhere close to rattling your teeth. When I’m listening to music or watching movies, I tend to like a bit more rumble to bass, but when gaming these are pretty much perfect.
