What does the future hold for organic market gardening? One thing is for sure, though: Its practitioners are growing as fast as the sector itself! I’ve been an Instagram follower of Éloïse from La Ferme de Domangeville ever since I heard she was France’s youngest market gardener. Fast forward a few years, and here I am visiting her for real at her Lorraine homestead. She’s really come into her own as an able businesswoman and farm manager! With an outspoken commitment to regional value creation, biodiversity and water saving, Éloïse was quick to make the switch to organic farming when she took over from her father Georges nine years ago.

Her success story is in fact the happy ending to what could have ended with a burn-out. After 15 years of livestock farming on his own, Georges was ready to throw in the towel. Éloïse, however, managed to give the family farm a new direction, and her father a new sense of purpose and pride. She talks passionately about her work on social media and, more recently, also with Tom, her partner in crime for a new YouTube channel, @unefermeduperche.
