Let’s Talk About the Watch Cases I Use

Whether you have a large collection of watches or just a few, it’s always a good idea to have a dedicated place to keep them when you aren’t wearing them. For many years I left my watches sitting on night stands or shelves or desktops when I wasn’t using them. I even left some sitting in drawers sometimes. This seemed acceptable when I only had five or six watches, although it still led to moments when I had trouble finding a given watch quickly… or moments when a watch may have fallen off a night stand onto the floor (and maybe behind the night stand where it was difficult to reach).

As my collection grew to literally dozens of watches I knew it would be a giant hassle to move forward without good storage ideas. And one great idea was to start using some kind of simple display case. A quick online search revealed lots of options and I really liked a particular style which was very affordable.

One of the attributes of these cases which I find to be particular helpful is the clear, glass tops. I don't know if it's real glass or some other material (like plexiglass), but is sure seems like real glass. The clear top means, first of all, that it's easy to see the watches in the case. But it also means that any solar-powered watches ("Tough Solar" or "Eco-Drive", for you fans of Casio and Citizen) will still be able to charge their power supplies even when you aren't wearing them. Simply place the glass-top case in a spot where it is exposed to normal light and the watches will get that light too!
