One of my most joyous #TBT with this never before seen footage. Quarantine projects have included uploading tadpole Natascia on tour...one of the most joyous times in my life. Every vital detail of this masterpiece was given to me by the late great Alan Johnson. Loved his purist approach, always rooted in emotional complexity and truth, precision, line and power in dancing this unparalleled choreography. This was the beginning, thrashing my gorgeous, iconic $5,000 Irene Scharaff Anita dress like a linebacker...lol...so rough, so little poise yet...but so much fire. When you use this choreo to speak what Robbins wanted to say through them, in this music you literally fly...but took me half my life to get my lines and execution where I wanted it, and to perfect and inhabit her poise, the depth of her wisdom, sexuality and power with compete ease and freedom, and I finally did. But this was the beginning. And have I been privileged to have been given half my life to get there....but man did I have fun getting there; the seeds Alan planted yielding new revelations and dimension to me in the prism of every single show, in every gorgeous strain of this score, with every new company. And the talent, energy, and command of this company will always be my forever posse. :)
