Natasha Bakhmetieva, living with Andrei Lazarev and their one-year-old son, Mishka, juggles roles as a housewife and mother. Bakhmetieva rescues the patient but tragically loses the baby. Forced to work for 24 hours, she discovers multiple recent infant deaths in the department. Head doctor Samoryadov urges her to end maternity leave early. Meanwhile, at a U.S. medical conference, Ruslan Bazanov, training as an obstetrician, encounters Olga Olshanskaya.
