How’s this for an almighty petrol v electric drag race! We’ve got the two most powerful Audi cars ever created going head-to-head.

Starting off we’ve got Mat in the new Audi RS e-tron GT. It’s powered by two electric motors, which combine to produce 646hp when launching, along with 830Nm of torque. It’s mightily heavy though, tipping the scales at 2,347kg.

Then we have the Audi R8 V10 Performance. It may be the pre-facelift edition, but the engine’s been tweaked to deliver the same output as the latest model. As a result, it produces 620hp and 580Nm. It’s oh-so-much lighter than the e-tron though, weighing just 1,640kg.

So how will this play out - will the massive weight difference help launch the R8 to victory? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!
