In an effort to prevent people from switching to ABC to watch the Sugar Bowl (which had #1 vs. #2), NBC had the Fiesta (Oklahoma / Arizona State), Rose (Michigan / UCLA), and Orange (LSU / Nebraska) bowls on New Year's Day 1983.
