(English version below)

The Master in International Economics and Public Policy (MIEPP) at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germany is designed for students who aim to understand both the opportunities and the challenges faced by private and public decision-makers in an integrated world economy. The program endows participants with advanced conceptual and methodological tools and thus enables them to engage in an informed discussion about numerous relevant topics – e.g., the drivers, consequences, and limits of globalization, the effects of fiscal, monetary, and regulatory policies, or the rational and behavioral foundations of decision-making at the individual and institutional level.

Professional perspectives: Successful MIEPP graduates are working in private companies, many of whom operate at the international level, in public institutions such as central banks, government administrations or statistical authorities, and in research institutes or universities.

International outreach: Since its start in 2010, the program has attracted students from all over the world. Moreover, it has been open for applicants with a wide range of qualifications. The heterogeneity of the student body guarantees a lively, stimulating and productive exchange among people with very different educational and professional backgrounds and cultural experience.

Quantitative focus: The MIEPP has a strong quantitative focus, i.e., students are trained to develop formal arguments and to confront these arguments with the data. This focus reflects the scientific ambition of the program, but also endows graduates with the quantitative and data handling skills that are in high demand by most employers, be it private firms or public institutions.

Interdisciplinary nature: In its quest to address relevant questions and to develop practical solutions, economics considerably benefits from an intense exchange with other social sciences, such as political science, sociology, psychology etc. MIEPP faculty members integrate interdisciplinary elements into their teaching and encourage students to engage in research projects that transcend the boundaries of economics.

Renowned faculty: MIEPP faculty members are active and visible members of the international research community. This guarantees that students are exposed to relevant and state-of-the-art concepts, methods, and ideas.

Organization and application: The MIEPP is a two-year, full-time M.Sc. program offered by the Gutenberg School of Management and Economics at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz.
