Infiniti QX50 New 2023 in-depth Walkaround

The 2023 Infiniti QX50 starts at $41,325, but unfortunately, it struggles to keep up with its luxury-grade competitors. Despite its pleasant exterior and stylish interior, this compact SUV falls short due to its lackluster complex and variable-compression turbocharged four-cylinder engine. While Infiniti promises advantages in fuel economy and performance, it fails to deliver on both fronts. In comparison, rivals such as the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3 xDrive30i, which come with conventional turbocharged fours, are quicker and more fuel-efficient.

Moving on to fuel efficiency, the QX50 requires premium unleaded (recommended) fuel and achieves an EPA city/highway MPG of 22/28, with a combined MPG of 25. It has a fuel tank capacity of 16.0 gallons and can cover a range of 352.0/448.0 miles (city/highway).

Under the hood, the QX50 comes with a base engine size of 2.0L and has an inline 4 base engine type that delivers 268 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 280 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm. The engine has 16 valves and is equipped with a double overhead cam (DOHC) and variable valve timing, with direct injection as a standard feature.

When it comes to towing and hauling, the QX50 can carry a maximum payload capacity of 1,007 lbs.

The QX50 has a continuously variable-speed automatic transmission, and its all-wheel drive is supported by a center-limited slip differential. The SUV also features four-wheel independent suspension and front and rear stabilizer bars.

In terms of dimensions, the QX50 has a length of 184.7 inches, an overall width with mirrors of 85.1 inches, and an overall width without mirrors of 74.9 inches. It stands at a height of 66.0 inches and has a wheelbase of 110.2 inches. The EPA interior volume is 133.3 cubic feet, and the cargo capacity, with all seats in place, is 31.1 cubic feet. However, the maximum cargo capacity can reach up to 64.4 cubic feet. The SUV has a turning circle of 36.4 feet and a ground clearance of 8.6 inches, with an angle of approach of 17.2 degrees and an angle of departure of 23.9 degrees. The curb weight is 4,068 lbs., with a maximum payload of 1,007 lbs. and a gross weight of 5,075 lbs.
