In this video (part one of two) Matt's taking on the challenge of rebuilding a VW MK1 Caddy tailgate and deleting the handle hole recess for a smoothed look.

This tailgate came to us looking a little battered and bowed, not as bad as most- but once Matt got stuck into it he found a restorer's worst nightmare: rot that had been FILLED OVER(!!!) hiding distortion from previous repairs.

This took a lot of work, but solid tailgates for the Mk1 Caddy pickup are hard to come by so this one was worth repairing, otherwise a good second hand one would have been sourced.
