This is a Motormouth couple car comparison of the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade mid-size 3-row SUVs.The Kia Telluride and Hyundai palisade utility vehicles share a V6 powertrain and many of its chassis components, as well as overall dimensions. These SUVs are not identical though; they both offer different styling inside and out. The Palisade and Telluride come with a 3.8L V6 engine with an 8 speed automatic transmission producing 291 horsepower and 262 lb-feet of torque. In Canada, the Palisade base model comes standard with FWD but the Telluride only offers AWD. In the US, you can get both. The Kia Telluride mid-size SUV and Hyundai Palisade utility offer plenty of standard features. Leatherette seats are standard in the Kia, cloth in the Hyundai. You get the bigger 10.25” touchscreen in the Telluride, 8” in the Palisade. A wireless charger is standard on the Kia, not on the Hyundai and blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert is standard on the Kia, but on the Palisade it’s standard one up from the base model. The base model on both the Telluride and Palisade have a 3.5” instrument cluster, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, 18” wheels, LED headlights and 8-passenger seating. Both of these 3-row SUVs offer driver seat memory, a 7” instrument cluster, heated and ventilated second row seats, leathers seats, a head-up display , 7 and 8-passenger seating and 20” wheels on different trims. Two features the Palisade has that the Telluride does not are the 12.3” digital display instrument cluster and a power folding 3rd row. The Hyundai Palisade cargo space numbers fall a bit short of the Kia Telluride. The Hyundai offers 18 cubic feet behind the 3rd row, the Telluride has 21.2 cubic feet. Cargo capacity behind the front row of the Palisade is 86.4 cubic feet and the Telluride 86.7. JD Power gives the 2021 Hyundai Palisade quality and reliability score of 72/100 and the Kia Telluride 82/100. CarEdge states the Palisade will retain 51% of its value after 5 years and the Telluride 48%.
For fuel economy, the Kia Telluride AWD gets 11.3L/100km combined, 21 MPG. The Hyundai Palisade 11.1L/100km combined, 21 MPG.
Both offer a warranty of 5 years or 100,000 km/60,000 miles and can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
