Best diet is the one personalised to your needs, life stage and resources and health conditions. There’s no one ideal diet - but some basic fundamentals are always the same - more protein and fiber, healthy fats, carbs in moderation mostly complex and not refined + plus sufficient fiber.
.
Dissing salads in an era where the country is not even eating 2 servings of fruits and veg in a day is rather disappointing. We are sitting on a Pandora’s box of diabetes, hypertension and metabolic disease for which high fiber consumption is a bare necessity. Confusing people with click baity content that distracts from the BIGGER picture is not done.
.
We also need to make space for socialising, entertainment, lack of time, meals on the go etc as we are not living in highly controlled laboratory environment. And sometimes when you’re eating out it’s better to fill yourself up with a salad than a whole pizza. High volume foods matter. I don’t understand how we can eat behl puri at the road side stall with cut vegetables lying around all day but have a problem with eating a salad at a reputed restaurant.
.
Lastly - exercise. as it makes it EASIER to eat better as our body’s processes become smarter with movement. So it is an important component of healthy eating.
.
A balanced holistic approach is only possible when we start thinking critically, and mindfully. So much judgement around food is not going to improve our health. But understanding of basic core fundamentals can. 💖
