I find that painting with a single stage metallic paint took more than anticipated.

It is time to break down and spray the paint on the race fairings. I choose to repaint the frame because of some repairs that I did, and I was never really content with the frame being BLUE, although it did contrast well. I try to do the best I can in everything I do, but for some reason I felt rushed doing this job, and therefore isn’t a true reflection of what I feel is my best.

In this episode we take inventory of the materials we have for painting and set up the home built Paint booth. We mask off the bottom of the tank that we repaired a few weeks ago. I ended up ordering paint from TCPGlobal.

The paint I used was a single stage urethane. I am unsure if it was the brand of paint or the fact that I had never shot a single stage paint before. This paint seemed extremely difficult to spray correctly. I feel a better job could have been done with a two stage paint job and not that much more time would have been invested.

Below are a few links to videos that do a better job of explaining the painting process. This video is not a HOW TO and I mess up in this video quite a lot.

This is the my Original DIY paint booth video.

This playlist is great. He paints a car in his garage (very do it yourself).
