What’s new in the new BMW 5 Series ? extensively updated exterior design (new LED headlights & new light-alloy wheels in 18- to 20-inch formats) with sporting allure, further enhanced premium feel for the interior, increased efficiency and dynamism through drive system electrification, cutting-edge innovations in the areas of driver assistance, control/operation and connectivity.

Also new : the introduction of new 48V mild hybrid technology for all four- and six-cylinder engines. Plug-in hybrid range expands to five models : 530e Sedan & Touring, 530e Xdrive sedan & Touring and 545e Xdrive sedan.

The new BMW 5 Series Sedan and new BMW 5 Series Touring will be launched in July 2020.

The main competitors of this premium model are the Mercedes-Benz E-class & the Audi A6.
