Marcus looks at what are the heights of switches and sockets in a domestic dwelling according to Part M of the Building Regulation. Then he moves on to look at heights of consumer units and socket outlets in kitchens and how smart technology can make life easier for people to mobility issues.

Part M of the Building Regulation states - To assist people who have reduced reach, services and controls should comply with all of the following.
Switches and sockets etc serving habitable rooms throughout the dwelling (home) have a CENTRE LINE 450mm - 1200mm above finished floor level (ffl). Consumer units are to be mounted so that the switches (circuit breaker, RCBOs etc) are 1350mm - 1450mm above finished floor level.
