After an intense 3 day training camp, the Aotearoa Para Waka Ama crew are poised to race at the IVF International World Championships. The team travels across the world to compete on the Dorney Lakes near London along with 1500 other athletes from around the world. The 12-strong amateur para crew from Aotearoa are up against the UK team of paddlers, who are all Paralympians. It’s a big challenge, but this regatta is not just about winning medals. Coach Corrina and her team really want to grasp this opportunity to raise the profile of para waka ama on the international stage.
