In supplying energy to a vehicle or device, a battery discharge process known as sulfation occurs. Sulfation is the formation or build-up of lead sulfate crystals on the surface and in the pores of the active material of the batteries' lead plates.
More crystals mean longer charging times, less efficiency, and lower charge capacity.
