Pixar’s Lightyear is one of the lowest-rated movies of the bunch. It was plagued by controversies such as Chris Evans replacing Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, or the refusal to remove a scene depicting two women in a relationship, resulting in the movie being banned in 14 countries. Disney stood their ground but these events caused the film to be review bombed, which lead to it netting a low score.

In this video essay, I review the movie as objectively is a can and explain which story elements were done well and where I personally saw shortcomings in the story preventing it from being better, or being better perceived by the audience.
