Every now and again, a vehicle comes along that’s just the right combination of how it performs, what it’s like inside and out, and its price. For me, that’s the 2024 Chevrolet Trax. No single item is jaw-droppingly perfect; instead, the entire package is simply greater than the sum of its parts.

You might remember the Trax as a quirky little puddle-jumper, but that model was retired a couple of years ago, and basically only the name carries over to this new-for-2024 Trax.

It’s wider, lower, and longer than the old Trax, and it’s styled to look like a smaller version of the Chevrolet Blazer. It’s considered a subcompact, but vehicle-segment-size has become rather fluid; and so, while it’s still a small vehicle, it’s slightly larger than models such as the Kia Seltos, Mazda CX-30, or Nissan Kicks.
