Our diesel heater install on a 2020 Scout Olympic Truck Camper. The heat output has been awesome, the lower portion of our camper is no longer cold now. We can’t wait to test it out once it snows and gets colder out.

The heater is mounted in the long lower cubby and we have just enough room to fit our downhill skis in there as well. We were considering copying the design of the diesel heater that the Scouts come with now, mounted box with heater on the back, but we ended up mounting it in the lower compartment because we wanted the heat vent near the floor and didn’t want to run a tube down the rear wall.

We went with a 2KW no name brand heater from Amazon and got it for $110 in September. We also decided to get a turret style mounting plate to make mounting the heating unit easier. We got a small waterproof box from Harbor Freight to mount the fuel filter/pump in. We got a small air vent to put on the cubby door to have proper airflow for the heater. We also had to get a longer exhaust pipe as well as make some brackets to get the exhaust a proper distance away from the camper/truck bed side.

The Swiss Link box on the back is the large size, we just have one shelf inside and use it for extra storage, mostly sneakers/boots and garbage. I made a list of the parts we used below to help anyone that wants to do a similar install.
