🐣 Our chicks are all grown up! We've been following our flock of laying hens for almost a year now. Check out our post with Jess Coslow, our Livestock Manager, from May 2022 to see our baby chicks soon after hatching. Jess has been raising eleven breeds of laying hen in order to figure out which one works best for our corner of New York State.

🐓 We're happy to report that all of our laying hens have been performing especially well this winter. Last year our Livestock team worked with our Ecology team to find the best pasture for our laying hens to forage on, and we found that the hens added much-needed nutrients and maintenance to the Rockefeller State Park Preserve pastures by Sleepy Hollow Road.

🖼️ We believe that this low-stress, pasture-raised system contributed to our hens' high lay rate this year. We will continue to advocate for and demonstrate the value of pasture-raised hens – especially when the eggs are so delicious!

🥚Curious to try the eggs for yourself? They are on sale in our Farm Store, open Wednesday through Sunday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
