Day 27 was a zero day that started in Creede with amazing cinnamon rolls and an expensive shuttle to Spring Creek Pass. I sent my re-supply box to Lake City so the snow making walking slower and then taking an extra day in Creede meant that I didn't have enough food for Newt for another day. So we skipped that section and got a shuttle to the pass where we hitched into Lake City. Lake City is a super cool town but with the annual wine and music fest that they have at the end of the season all of the restaurants were closed. Luckily the churches in town were prepared and decided to do one more hiker supper for all of us. I ate so much food that I was absolutely miserable and was asleep by 8:30 that night.

The next day was gorgeous and we hit the high point of the CT. We camped in between some bushes that night to get out of the wind and I slept great. At this point in the hike it was harder sleeping in real beds when we went to town than on my sleeping pad.
