Note that as of March 8, 2021, the DOT and the FAA have updated effective dates.
- The new exam will now be in effect on April 6 (instead of March 1 or March 16 as originally announced). If you already scheduled your exam for or before that date, make sure to study the OLD regulation section (and you can skip the night training module for now). If you plan to take the exam on or after April 6, you need to study the NEW regulation section AND the night training module.
- The free online recurrent training will be available on April 6 (and not March 1 or March 16 as initially announced). If your currency expires between now and April 6, you need to take the UGR (recurrent) exam in person at an FAA testing center and pay $160.
You can decide to wait but you won't be current and can't exercise the privileges of your certificate until you either take the UGR or the free online training on April 6.
- The new regulation published in January will now go into effect on April 21 (instead of March 16 as initially announced). This means that you can't fly over people or fly at night without a waiver until April 21 (granted you meet all the requirements in the regulation).

This week, we discuss the much anticipated new FAA regulation. Learn about the new Remote ID regulation that will go into effect in 2021 along with the new set of rules for operation over people, operation at night, and remote pilot certificate renewal.

This is not an overview video, we will do a COMPLETE REVIEW of the almost 800 pages of final regulation released in December 2020. If you want to skip through the video to a specific topic, use this timeline:
