Voters will not tolerate ‘lack of urgency’ from governments

Redbridge Group Director Simon Welsh says aspirational voters have shown a “loss of patience” with the government going forward.

New research seems to suggest that there is a growing consciousness amongst voters around the issue of economic inequality.

Specifically, how our systems around tax, housing, health and education are working to make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

“I think we are going to see voters – particularly these aspirational voters, but not only – that won’t tolerate timidity in governments and won’t tolerate lack of urgency in governments,” Mr Welsh told Sky News Australia.

“The old adage in Australian politics that you elect someone and get them for two terms; I think those days are going and I think they are going quickly.”
