It was a two mile "cookie cutter" track with not a lot of banking, how did California Speedway turn out so great? As the asphalt aged, Fontana evolved from a boring one-lane track, to a multi-groove circuit beloved by drivers and fans. Throughout its history as a two-mile superspeedway, Fontana produced more highlights than most tracks. Like a friend who offered memories of excitement, tragedy, anger, and joy, NASCAR executives have decided it's time to say goodbye.
