The 2021 Dodge Durango SRT is probably the most ridiculous car I have ever reviewed. I cannot figure out who they made this thing for, but I believe it will satisfy the kid in all of us. With 475hp and 470 lb/ft of torque coming from a 6.4L Hemi V8, it is undoubtedly a thrill ride. Combine that with the practicality of having three rows, seating six comfortably, and you have a ridiculous outcome. Imagine trying to converse with the passengers in the third row as the driver, overcoming the extremely droning exhaust. This is basically a minivan for the cool dad who refuses to drive a minivan.

Is it the best 3 row SUV? Well, as long as you don’t focus on the obvious lack of luxury, the overwhelming exhaust note, the bland design (exterior and interior), and a couple of really dated features, then sure, maybe its the best in that world. If all you care about is driving the fastest SUV at a $65,000 price point, then this might be the car for you.

Exterior design has been modified, but mostly unchanged. It looks more like a raised Dodge Charger with the new LED headlights and a more aggressive front treatment. Other than that, the exterior very much looks the same as previous years. Interior design is underwhelming to say the least, especially at a $65,000 price point. The highlight in the interior is the 5th generation Connect system, which I thoroughly went through in my review of the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. And the highlight in this particular Dodge Durango is the SRT feature in the infotainment system. It allows you to time your acceleration, your 1/8th mile, your 1/4 mile, and pretty much every other performance metric you need.

The drive, the sound, the handling, the acceleration, everything about this car is ridiculous. I cannot argue that it was fun driving this tank around for a few days, but I still cannot fathom the thought process of the buyers. It is no wonder I have not seen many of these on the road. I will smile when I see one drive by however, knowing the maniac behind the wheel is probably smiling as they launch from 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds with their entire family screaming behind them.
