Dubai: Streets Submerge Under Water as Storm Dumps Year's Worth of Rain In a Day

After torrential rains lashed the United Arab Emirates, the roads of Dubai have turned into rivers. Flash floods have submerged roads and houses in the city. The flooding also halted operations at Dubai International Airport which is the world's busiest air hub for international passengers. The operations were suspended for 25 minutes on Tuesday, while departures resumed later in the evening but remained plagued with delays and cancellations. The authorities have extended the remote working system for government employees for Wednesday while schools continue to remain shut. Videos showed vehicles wading through knee-deep water in the streets. The desert city has received rain worth at least a year due to a storm that has hit the Arabian Peninsula.
