Join us as we build and customize our dream car in our Teen Auto Workshop, supported by the Hammertime Global Education Initiative. A HUGE thank you to @Quadratec for supporting this program with the parts, instruction, and funding to help make this possible. In today's video, watch as we unbox all of the upgraded equipment for our Dream Build and learn how to change the oil on our 2001 @Jeep TJ with our Teen Auto Workshop class of high school students.

Instruction #1 | Checking Oil Levels
It is recommended to check your engine oil at least every three to four weeks and before a long trip. Old vehicles require more frequent checking. Environmental factors can increase the amount of oil your engine uses. Synthetic oil tends to last longer than conventional oil. Make sure to choose the right oil viscosity for your engine. This can be found on your engine’s oil cap or in the owner’s manual.

Instruction #2 | How to Properly Jack a Vehicle
Be sure to check your surroundings before beginning to jack your vehicle.

Instruction #3 | Locating the Drain Plug
The Drain Plug on the Jeep is located in the undercarriage. Just look for the bolt!

Instruction #4 | Draining the Oil
Disposal of used motor oil - Store your used motor oil in a clean, leak-proof container. Many auto parts stores and some service stations will accept used motor oil for recycling. Call ahead to find out what your local shop will accept.

Instruction #5 | Changing the Oil Filter
Removal will vary from filter to filter by either hand, strap wrench, or various wrenches. Additional oil will escape once removed so be sure to have the oil pan positioned under the filter. Prime the new filter with a small amount of NEW oil on the lip of the seal. Proceed to hand tighten the new filter in place.

Instruction #6 | Adding the New Oil
Ensure the drain plug has been secured. Refer to the owner's manual for the exact amount and type of oil needed for your engine. Replace the engine cap and start the engine. Let the engine run for about 30 seconds to circulate the new oil. Turn off the ignition and check for leaks.
