The Land Rover Defender name feels like it's as old as time itself, with its history dating back to 1948 with the Series I before morphing into the Defender as we recall it best in 1983. Now in its (long-overdue) 2nd-generation, the new Defender aims to capture the spirit of the Defender while merging it with the newfound position of Land Rover as a purveyor of capable-but-luxurious off-roaders.
