Redox Flow batteries are already being installed on grid systems in some parts of the world. They are a great renewable technology but they use rare and expensive metals and toxic liquids. Now an all organic version has been developed by a team of researchers in Sweden. Could this be the system that finally makes global grid scale storage a reality?
